Skin Care

Skin types
Oily skin - Overall shiny look, especially on nose, chin and forehead.

Dry skin - Flaky patches, especially on cheeks. Your skin feels tight after washing.

Normal/combination skin - An even mixture of dry and oily skin.

Choose skin products that suit your type. The basics you should buy are cleanser, eye-make up remover, toner and moisturiser. Of course there are many other products including skin creams and hand creams.

Moisturising, toning and cleansing
Moisturising - Put small blobs of moisturiser on your face and gently massage into your skin using upwards movements. Apply extra to dry areas, such as your cheeks.

Toning - Soak cotton wool in toner and gently wipe over your face. Avoid downwards movements because they will stretch your skin and muscles.

Cleansing - Sooth a little cleanser over your face and neck. Wipe with a tissue using gently upward movements to tone your muscles and help circulation.

You should cleanse, tone and moisturise morning and night. Moisturisers help to replace lost moisture and keep the skin smooth and supple. Cleansing helps to tone muscles and keep circulation active, as does toning.

Remember...
  • Use the right factor of sun cream when on holiday. People with pale, freckled skin and who have red or fair hair are very prone to burning and peeling, which looks awful and it very uncomfortable. It can also cause cancer.
  • If you have olive or black skin, remember you still need to use sun cream.
  • Sensitive skin can be blotchy and prone to allergies and rashes. Try to use very simple, natural products which you won't have a reaction to.
  • Tea tree oil is very good to get rid of blemishes/spots/zits on your skin and leaves you feeling cool and refreshed.
