Tanning

It's much easier to damage your skin than most people seem to realise!!
To protect your skin:
  • Always use a high factor of sun cream (at least 18) when you know you're gonna be outside for long periods of time.
  • Reapply sun cream every hour/two hours.
  • Try to stay away from sunbeds as much as possible.
  • Do what you can to stop yourself from burning.
  • Never use baby oil.
  • Wear a visor or hat (preferably hat) if it's really hot.

Although using a strong sun cream means you might not get as good a tan, at least you are preventing yourself from getting skin cancer in the long run. Remember that even if your skin doesn't burn you can still damage it severely. No matter what colour of the rainbow you are, in less than a week of sunbathing and using factor 8 or even factor 15 sun cream, you can still damage your skin for life (especially in countries like Spain etc.).

So just be careful ok?? This is one of the (few) instances where health comes before beauty, haha.

If you do get sunburnt, put ice on it. If it is severe you will probably have to use cold water. Be wary of any creams/sprays that contain lanolin; these will irritate your skin more. Lavendar essential oil is also very good.
