What Not To Eat

First of all...
  • Check the fat content on packaged stuff - the lower the better. High I would say is anything above 10g and low anything below 5g (on a packet of crisps for example). Your total fat content for one day should be between 60 and 70g.
  • Avoid any fried foods and anything you know has plenty of calories.
  • Try to reduce the amount of junk food you eat.

#1 thing not to eat - butter. Depending on which sort you buy, butter is generally about 80% fat and 20% other crap. If you normally eat butter, once you give it up you will miss it, I'm telling you now! If you really can't give it up, try using a low fat spread or if you're using it on sandwiches for example, choose something like tuna mayonaise, where you wouldn't be able to taste any butter anyway.

#2 thing not to eat (well, drink) - fizzy drinks. These are bad for you anyway, but they also contain a lot of empty calories, and switching to fruit juices and water is much better for your body. You should also be a lot less thirsty, since the ingredients in soft drinks mean you become even more thirsty than you were originally.

#3 - excess salt. There's lots of salt already in most foods, and piling more on isn't good for your health. Try using just a little bit of salt, or alternatively, use a different type of sauce/dressing - low fat of course :)

#4 - white and milk chocolate (in terms of fat content). A lot of junk food is bad for you, but chocolate is definitely the worst. There can be up to 20g of fat in one chocolate bar (a THIRD of your whole day's allowance). People generally tend to think of crisps/chips being worse for you, but you could have 5 packets of Quavers for one chocolate bar!
