About KuteKitten.com

My site started around June or July of 2001. I had recently been learning HTML (from Girland.com members - I joined Girland in May) and was beginning to get interested. I love designing and making pretty things LOL. Anyway, one of my friends had made a site on Expage and I went to it and I was just like 'Wow!' I had no idea that people my age made web sites and things like that, I thought it was too hard (I was 14 at the time). Anyway, I signed up at Expage, and made my own site which linked in with my AOL buddy group. It's disappeared now, I have no idea where it went lol. Shortly after I made this page, I made a couple of other pages which weren't too bad, and then I was surfing the net one day when I saw this page. It was an Expage page, made by a lad and it had about 300 subpages, something like that. And best of all it showed how to do HTML. There were textareas, marquees, and lots of basic stuff like that but to me back then it was great. I decided to set up my own HTML site, but Girland based. Back then you could put pictures and music and banners on your layouts, because the language filter only blocked bad language, not HTML. I had no idea about any of this, but I thought it was cool!!! You can see my old Expage site by clicking here. Some of the pages might be messed up though :)

At first, I didn't have that many visitors but I started recommending my site to people asking for help on the Problem Pages, and then I got about 10 visitors a day lol. My site was the first of its kind - a Girland HTML Help site. Later on, Girland moved onto the 'Layout Era', which is still going on now. I made layouts to put on my site, they were very basic and not so good but I kept getting more hits as people kept telling their friends about my site. Around October, I moved my site to Angelfire.com. It was pretty good because I could do lots of things, and I had lots of space. I also learned a lot more HTML during that time, and bought books and mags and stuff like that. I started getting around 90 visits a day, but that dropped after I stopped updating for a while, due to the fact I was working on the .com site.

KuteKitten.com was bought towards the end of November, 2001. I'm not sure when it first opened, but I think it was around 7th January. I bought my domain from ukdomains. I don't recommend them AT ALL because they are expensive and crap. After a while, ukdomains started really annoying me. So I moved everything to Dreamhost. It's very reliable, you get lots of freebies and the customer support is great.

My first layouts were on kutekitten.dot.nu - I had a bright swirly one with a yellow background, and then a starry one. After I moved to Angelfire, I had a cute layout from some free site but I edited it - it was a light blue one with bars above and below the updates and pictures, & it had kinda weird navigation. I liked it though. Version 4 was all black, and it had rainbow links, that changed colours on mouse over. After a while the black got a bit boring though. It was my first frames layout, & Rachael helped me with it. The version was called something like 'Rainbow Darkness'. Version 5 was the first version on kutekitten.com. I decided just to carry on with the versions, and not start again from 1.

I get a lot of people saying I act like I made the Internet (if I had it would be rubbish!) and that I'm stuck up. Well, I'm not! Sorry if I sound like it but honestly I'm not. I put a lot of time and effort into my site, and it's more than once I've had a tantrum with a code that won't go right lol. I'm human! And if you read this far...well...thanks lol, because it took me a long time to write!!
