Revising/Studying
- Make sure you give yourself enough time to revise. Don't start the night before, especially if it's a big exam.
- Ask your teacher(s) if there's anything you aren't clear on.
- Make a list of the bits/topics you know well and the ones you don't. Revise the ones you don't know well thoroughly, and then look at the ones you do.
- Use mneumonics (e.g. 'Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain' for remembering Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet) and other memory aids.
- Make simple diagrams with the main points of topics and stick them up in places you will read them.
- Record key phrases onto tapes and play them back to yourself.
- Keep a checklist of what you've done and not done so you keep organised!
- Keep all notes, revision guides etc. together in one place.
- If you have several exams at once, make a revision timetable to make maximum use of your time.
- Don't panic!
- Don't listen to music either!!
- Only revise for about 40-50 minutes at a time, as that's (psychologically) the longest time you can spend concentrating fully at once.
- If your exams are months off, review stuff once a week or every 4-5 days to keep it in your long term memory :P
- Don't revise the night before or the day of your exam. Just refer briefly to a few notes, and remember to arrive at least 15 minutes before the exam.
- Good luck :)
