Image Maps

Image maps are simple to make but look great! In this simple tutorial, learn how to make one of your own :D

1. Download CuteMap. You can only download it once per computer, so make the most of it.
2. The version of CuteMap you will get is a free TRIAL version that lasts 30 days.
3. Make sure you 'Save it to disk'.
4. Install it, and make sure in the check box you select 'Add icon to desktop' and 'Run program now', or something similar.
5. Open up CuteMap, and then go to File > New map.
6. Open up the image you want to map - the most obvious ones work best. Try and use one you've put writing on because then it's much more clear to other people looking at it.
7. At the top, to the right of the drop down menu that says 100% you should see a rectangle, a circle, and a star. Click the one you would like to use. I recommend using the rectangle because it's sooo much easier to use!
8. Click in the top left hand corner of the area you want to map first and drag a box around it. Let go.
9. Look to the left of your screen; there should be a grey bar there. Type in the URL of the area you just mapped. You can also type in any other info if you want.
10. Click on your image on the next area you want to map, and drag another box around it. Repeat step 9 again.
11. Repeat the following instructions above until you have mapped all the places you need to! Then copy the code in the box at the bottom of the screen, and paste into the page you want your image map on.
12. Upload your original image. You might also need to save your image map and upload that, too. Save is as a .html file.
13. All done :D
