A lot of people have asked me to make this tutorial, so here it is :D This tagboard can be used on any site, no matter whether it's geocities or a domain or whatever. This is quite a basic tutorial, and you don't need to know much HTML. However, it's useful if you know a bit of CSS so you can edit your tagboard fully. At least one of the links given should give you the chance to sign up for a *free* tagboard. 1. Go here, here, here or here and sign up. 2. Depending on the site you signed up with, the instructions might be slightly different for each. Log in with your username and password, and you'll be taken to the Control Panel. 3. Ignore the part that says 'HTML code' for now, and click the link at the top of the page which says 'Style'. 4. There are directions there if you want to read them...but I'll try to explain how you customise it. It's not very difficult lol.Just mess around with it until you find a colour scheme you like. If you know the hex codes (#000000 is black, for example), then just type those in. If not, click the 'Select colour' link and pick one. 5. Once you've made all the changes you want, select 'Save Changes' and then click 'HTML Code' at the top of the screen. 6. Copy the HTML code and paste it into the page you want it. 7. Now's the part where you have a lot more freedom to change your tagboard! Where is says iframe src="http://www.tag-board.com/my.tag?name=(your username)" name="tag" width="200" height="200" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" (for example), you can change the width and height to the size you want the actual tag board to be. Don't make it too small because then people have to keep scrolling. 8. Where it says iframe src="http://www.tag-board.com/my.tag?name=(your username)" name="tag" width="200" height="200" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" (for example), add just after height="200", frameborder="0". This will get rid of the icky looking shadowed-grey line around your tag board. 9. Copy the code below and paste it into the end of your CSS - may not apply to all tagboards (which changes your scrollbar colours etc.) code on your page. If you don't know what this is or you're confused, you can stop lol 10. The code above changes the boxes which say 'Message', 'Name' etc. The 'color:#000000' is the colour of your font, so change that to something else if you don't like black or whatever. The 'font-size:7PT' is obviously the font size. I wouldn't go any lower than 7 because it's quite difficult to see. 'Font-family' is pretty obvious - the font you want your boxes to be. 'background:#FCC1F' is the background of the boxes. 'Dotted' is the line style: you can also have 'solid' or 'dashed'. The #000000 says what colour the line is...in this case it's a dotted black one. 11. When you've finished messing about, save the page and look at your tagboard. If you like it, then you're done! Do a quick post to check it's all right, then log into your tag-board account, click 'Posts' at the top of the screen & delete the 'Welcome' one posted by tag-board. If you're not happy with it, mess around with it until you are!! Tagboard example: Back | Forward Advertised |
