Winzip is pretty much the same as Winrar, but it is much more widely used. You can use it to download files/folders from a site, unzip them, and use them for whatever you like - with permission of course!! :) Here's a brief tutorial about zipping and unzipping. 1. First, you need to download Winzip. You could probably get it from here or try doing a search. 2. Once you've downloaded and installed it, following the instructions on the site you downloaded it from, you can download any files and unzip them. The files you can unzip with Winzip generally end in .zip 3. After you've downloaded a .zip file, find it on your computer and double click. Winzip should start automatically, just follow the wizard or 'Continue' until it says 'Unzip'. and the file(s) you downloaded should appear :D 4. Zipping files yourself varies slightly from version to version, but basically find and open Winzip on your PC (try going to 'Start' and finding it there). 5. Next, go through the small screens you get until you get to an option about creating files or opening existing ones. Make sure 'Create new file' is checked, then continue. 6. Name the .rar folder, then add the file(s) you want to it. 'Continue' to zip it up. Make sure you remember where it gets saved on your PC!! 7. Find it on your PC (it will be called whatever.zip). Now you can add it to your site either by dragging it to the right screen in FTP, or log into your site manager and 'Upload' it. 8. To add the link to your site so people can download it, use this code (change whatever.zip to your actual folder name): Back | Forward Advertised |
