Blinkie Blocks

These are quite easy to do, and useful if you make a lot of blinkies by hand because it will speed the process up for you.

1. Open up a new image with a white background in PSP, at least 150 x 150 pixels. 2. Go to Effects > Texture Effects > Tiles. Change your settings to match mine and then press 'Ok':

3. Press Text, and type the letter 'A' into the box that appears. Choose a small font like 'Redensek' or 'Silkscreen'. You can download those from my site if you don't have them, just look in the 'You' section. Press 'Ok'. If you need to, drag the letter as close to the centre of one of the small boxes as you can:

4. Now crop around your letter with Crop, making sure to leave the black lines around it so it looks like a box:

5. Colour it any way you like, then save it. Do that for each letter until you have the whole alphabet. Now when you want to make a blinkie, just open up the letters you need and copy and paste onto a new image, then save! Easy!

6. Experiment with the shading a colouring of your blocks to create unusual effects. Here are some of my favourites (the one on the left is the original, the one on the right is an enlarged version to show you how you have to colour/shape your blinkie to get the effect. To create partly transparent blocks, see one of my tutorials on transparency.
