Background (diagonal lines)
1. Open up PSP and make a new image 10 x 10 (pixels).
2. Use the green floodfill bucket (
) to make the background any colour you want. Zoom in (View > Zoom, or if you have a scrolling thing on your mouse just click your image and then scroll up and it will zoom in).
3. Click
, and if the 'Tool Options' box doesn't appear/or change, then right click
and select 'Tool Options'. Once you have the small box on your screen, change the settings to match mine:

4. Select a different colour from the colour palette on the right, I recommend black or white. Then click in the top left of your image and drag the cursor down to the bottom left, which should create a diagonal line. This is what it should look like zoomed in:

5. Now open up a new image that you want to use for your actual background (I would recommend about 500 x 700 pixels). Then go to the colour palette and click the tiny black arrow to the side of the style box, and click the image of little dots. If you're confused by now, look at this...

6. Once you've done that, click the middle of the box (looking at the image shown above), not the tiny black arrow, and then click the little black arrow next to the 'Current Pattern', and find the diagonal line pattern you just made. Then click 'Ok'.

7. Click
, and then click your plain background image to add the diagonal line pattern :) That's it!! If you like, you can go to Image > Mirror and reverse the way the lines go, or go to Image > Rotate for different effects.
