Glowing Text

1. Create a new image with a black background: File > New.
2. On the right hand side of your photoshop screen you'll see the colour palette, click it with your left mouse button to select the colour you want your text to be.
3. Click the text icon (the 'T'), then click your image and add the text you want.
4. If you look in the top right of the Photoshop tool bar after you've added your text, you should see a tick or a check. Click it, then go to Layer > New Layer and click 'Ok' if you need to.
5. Look to the bottom right of your screen and you'll see a little 'Layers' box. Press 'Ctrl' on your keyboard and hold it down whilst you click your left mouse button over your middle layer (see diagram below):

6. Your text should now have a floating dotted line around it like this:

6. Go to Select > Modify > Expand, and type in '4' (pixels), then Select > Feather, and type in '8'.
7. Now choose a colour for your glow (click the colour palette again to select), click the 'Floodfill' bucket icon, then go to the 'Layers' box again and click the top layer, floodfill anywhere inside the floating dotted line to create your glow!
8. Now the image will look ruined, but don't worry, it's not :) Go back to your 'Layers' box again, and drag your layer (it will be called either Layer 1 or Layer 2, the one you just floodfilled), click and drag it to underneath your main layer (mine is called Star-Girl.org). See the images below:

9. Go to Select > Deselect, then Layer > Flatten image and save.
